Raol11tion1 (a) Approve on First Reading ,. • • (i) Director Gryglewicz presented a recommendation from the Department oC Financial Services to adopt a resolution establishing fees for licenses and c:cnilicates of registration for a>ntractors. He advised that the only change. that was made to the chapter that was just brought out oC the moratorium. was the way the fees arc set. He explained that this resolution sets the fees and the fees an: exactly the same as they have been . Mr. Gryglewicz nolcd that the fees wiU probably be under lft'iew again next year. In response to Mayor Bums. I· Date August 12, 1996 . • • '· COUNCIL COMMUNICATION Agenda.Item Subject Resolution establishing fees for licenses and certlflcates of registration for licenses under Title 5 Cha er 7 Contraclor Ucensi Initiated By De rtment of Financial Services Staff Source Frank G lewicz Director COUNCIL GOAL AND PREVIOUS COUNCIL ACTION This resolution sets license and certificate of registration fees for Title 5, Chapter 7 of the City Code. The resolution is required per the changes the Council adopted in the emergency ordinance that lifted the moratorium on this Chapter. Al the May 6, 1996 study session , staff discussed the proposed moratorium with the Council. On June 3, 1996, the City Council read and passed Ordinance 25, Series of 1996 on final reading. This Ordinance established the moratorium to run from June 10, 1996 to December 10, 1996. On August 5, 1996, Council passed an emergency ordinance on first reading. RECOMMENDED ACTION Staff recommends City Council approve this resolution establishing fees for Title 5, Chapter 7. BACKGROUND, ANALYSIS, AND ALTERNATIVES IDENTIFIED Licenses and registrations under Title 5, Chapter 7 was part of the moratorium that began on June 10, 1996. Changes adopted an emergency ordinance that lifted the moratorium and requires Council to set fees for licenses and ceftiflcates by resolution. In the future, Council will review Tille 5 fees as part of the annual budget process. The fees for contrador licenses and registration are not being changed from previous levels. The fees are proposed to be set at the following levels until the next review: UcenNF ... : Class A $200.00 Class B $125.00 Class C $75.00 Class O $50.00 Class E $50.00 Class F $50.00 Certlllcm of Registration F ... : Electrical $00.00 Plumbing $50.00 Plumbing/Mechanical $75.00 FINANCIAL IMPACT License fees will be colleded, but no estimate has been made.
