AS ENGLEWOOD'S '-_~ ..11111 CITIZEN OF THE YEAR FOR 1994 . ~ ~ WHEREAS, Dr. Jess Gerardi served as band director for the Englewood ~ r Public Schools from 1963 to 1988, during which time hr conducted both jwuor and senior high school marching bands, concert bands, jazz ensembles, and orchestras; and WHEREAS , Dr. Gerardi's famous Englewood High School Pirate marching band has appeared nationwide, including two trips to the Portland Rose Festival where they won the sweepstakes trophy both times, and two unprecedented trips to march in the Pasadena Tournament of Roses Parade; and WHEREAS , Dr. Gerardi also served as assistant principal at Flood Middle School in Englewood from 1990 to 1993 ; and WHEREAS , in addition to his former duties with the Englewood Schools, Dr. Gerardi has served as the Director of Entertainment for the Denver Broncos Football Club since 1968; and WHEREAS . Dr. Gerardi has received numerous teaching honors, including being named to the Colorado Bandmaster's Hall of Fame, being named Director of the Year by his honorary band fraternity, and being named to the Colorado Music Educators' Hall of Fame by the 1200 member Colorado Music Educators Association; and WHEREAS , Dr .
