RECITALS A. The City of Sheridan ("Sheridan·) is a statutory city and exists punuant to Colorado laws and is located within Arapahoe County. The City of EnsJewood ("Enalewood") is a municipal corporation orpnized and uistiq pursuant to Article XX of the Colorado Constitution and is located within Arapahoe County. B. Both cities established volunteer &re depanmenu. Sheridan presently maintains a volunteer fire department ("Sheridan Volunteers·). and SVFPB is the trustee for the Sheridan Volunteers' pension fund. WHEREAS, the Cherrelyn Horsecar operated in Englewood from 1894 until 1910, carving a niche in Englewood history because of its uniqueness; and WHEREAS, after ceasing commercial operation, the Cherrelyn Hor,ecar was sold to a private individual for use as a playhouse; and WHEREAS, in 1950, the Cherrelyn Honecar was donated to the City of Englewood and the Rotary Club funded its initial restoration; and WHEREAS, the Cherrelyn Horsecar occupied a place of honor at City Hall for many yean; and WHEREAS, in 1987, the Hor,ecar needed restoration, and the~ fie Cltefffly,t Honec• CCffllmiftre was organized to raise funds to offset the costs of restoration; and WHEREAS, through hard work and determination, the Committee raised the necessary funds, by 1990, to assist in the restoration of the Cherrelyn Hor,ecar; and WHEREAS, in an effort to ensure that the restored Honecar would be accessible for futwe pnerations to enjoy. the Committee helped raise funds in 1992 for the construction of a permanent indoor shelter for the Honec:ar; and WHEREAS, the six year effort put forth by the Sa,e tu Cltnrely,t H-ar c.,,.,,.iftre is an example of community spirit and pride; and WHEREAS, the Englewood City Cow,cil wiahn to recognize and thank ail the memben of this Committee for their dedication to the Englewood community; NOW, THEREFORE.
