statements In opposition to the proposed closing of the Federal Fire Station
at the town meeting: T. Rotunda, Ken Mills, Donna Shnrn, Gerald Stamm. 0th r
non -scheduled visitors addressed Council as follows: Marcia Slnrnons, 3020
South Clarkson, concerning the forestry program; Darius Burke 2377 West Grand
Avenue, concerning the Fire Station; James ltoffhelln,' mS' ou ar son, d e Jfh ,~.,.>
concerning the paving of South Clarkson; George Schall, 3376 West Grand
Avenue, suggested Instead of closing the fire station that Council should ta e
a closer look at the CERF program and vehicle replace nts; Gary Kasson, 4434
South Pearl, concerning the Bookmobile (It was explained that th elimination
of th Bookmobile was not being proposed) and he also stat d that he fel
property taxes should be raised to pay for the servlc s the City provid s,
rather than cut the services; Connie White, 2077 West Tanforan Drive, s tat ed
she would personally support a tax increase, but didn 't f el the elderly of
the co unity could handle one; Ms. White also opposed the closing of he fir
station; Lloyd Fox, 3232 West Stanford Avenue, requested that Council cons1d r carefully th closing of the fire station.

City Manager Mccown explained this was the second public hearing on the
creation of Paving District No . 31, that Mr. Kahm, Acting Director of
Engineering, was present If anyone In th audience wished to ask question s
about the matter. No one came forward . City Attorney Olsen requested that
two letters be entered Into the records: one, a resident of 4981 South
Clarkson (unsigned) and the other from the City Manager of Cherry Hills
Village. Both letters will be incorporated Into the proceedings .

City Manager Mccown presented information concerning a Bill for an Ordinan ce
approving the second amendment to the building restrictions for the Plum
Valley Subdivision In Mclellan Reservoir area . It was explained that the
elimination of these restrictions would be economically advantageous to th
City and that passage of this Bill wa s reco11111ended by the Water and Sewer Board.

appreciation for the gift of Jacob C. Jones' gun which is now on display In
the Community Room. Hrs. Coffin stated that she was certain Mr. Jones (firs

Mr. Lou Tuccitto, 1130 West Stanford Drive, brought o City Council's
attention several environ ntal concerns and public safety hazards which e 1s
In the south west corner of the City tn th area zoned 1-1, Light Indus r i al .
His concerns Included (1) tires which secure the roofing of two of he
warehouses in the area which create a smoke and fire hazard, an uncontrolled
environment for the breeding of Insects, and a decrease in property value for
the neighborhood; (2) debris surrounding the buildings within the area; and
(3) the presence of approximately 7S drums, some of which con ained various
chemicals which could prove harmful to anyone exposed o heir cont n s. He
urged attention to this matt r. Mr. Tuccttto was Informed by Council hat he
matter ts being pursued, that a major clean up of the area ts being
und rtaken .
