A 1so present w ere: A ssistant City Manag er McD ~v~tt C~ty A ttorney Berard ini Deputy City Clerk Herndon Mayor Schwab explained that the purpose of the meeting was to hold a public hearing on the proposed 1 9 72 Budget~ COUNCILMAN LENTSCH MOVED , COUNCILMAN OHOR.ITY SECONDED , THAT THE PUBLIC ~IN G ON T HE PROPOSED 1 9 72 BUDGET BE OPENED~ Upon the ca11 of the ro1 1, the vote resu1ted as fo~1ows: Ayes: CounciLmen Senti, Lentsch , Lay, Kre i1ing , Dhority, Brown , Schwab. A ssistant City Manager McDivitt came before Council.. to d iscuss the 1972 proposed budget. Mr. McD ivitt stated th3t there were no tax increases for the 1972 budget. He stated that the assessed valuation is $74,000,000, and that the mi11 levy for the City of Englewood is the third lowest of any city ~ the State of Colorado . A ssistant City Manag er McDivitt discussed w ith Council.. the various sources of income , and stated that the major source of income is the sales tax . Cou..ncil.tnan Krei.1i.ng questioned the :Lnc:rease in personal.. servi.ces . M .r . McD ivitt discussed briefl.y the proposed train~ng of City emp1oyees to assist the Fire D epartment. He stated that the vol-unteer firemen were u.nab1e to serve during the day due to their emp1oyment. It was fel.t that the C i ty wou l.d have better control. over the cross -trained personnel.. Mayor Schwab stated that the City woul.d receive credit for one fu11 tLme fireman for every four cross-traLned personnel.. Mr . Hc D i..v ~tt stated that 3 per cent to 6 per cent of the increase i..n commodities and contractual. services attrLbuted to Ln£1ation. D i..scuss1on ensued .
