We find our shMre of the pMyment for paving Distriot #l~ to be way out of proportion to wh &t we h ave been told by City Council it might be. I meMsured sixty (60) lineal teet of curb and gutter not replMoed on t h e North side of lot f orty eight (4 8 )--Lehigh St. -ere we charged for this? I measured twenty eight (28) lineal teet of curb and gutter not re- moved on the east sides of lots forty seven (4?) Mnd forty eight (48)-- Gr&nt street. Were we charged tor this? Since we are to pay only two-sevenths (2/?•s) of the oost of Lehigh s treet--the North side of lot forty eight (48)1 why should our bill be almost ~50 0.00 more than our neig hbors to the south of us? I am requesting that the actual cost breakdown tor Lehigh street--the n orth side or lot forty eight (48), &nd Grant street--the east sides of lots forty seven (4?) and forty e i ght (48) be made available, along with the other c oats shared by our neighbors of the one-halt ti) blook of Leh i gh mentioned e8ove. I a m also MSking tnat the esti mated coats, as presented at the City Counoil meeting on February 23 1 1 ~?0 , be made available to oompare the e stimates wit h t h e actual costs a n d oe t o ld whY they should ditter so. I a m asking t h at an ac t ual i n spection--visually--be made or the sidewalks, c ros an d gutters at t he aoove mentioned looation to determine whether t h ey are u p to City Standards as t o depth, level, sub base eto. It baa been my sad task to ~ to shovel these walks ol .. n or snow. Th ey are rounde d--not f lat. ~veral dirterent pours or oonorete have been made along oo t h streets, a n d they on't matoh •P• There has been some ttling or t h e sid e walk. It we had had several big treezea a n d t h aws t h is winter like we have so~ yeara, the walks would have buck- led and broken due to tault y oonatruotion. What about the years to oo~? H v i n g hauled a lot or oonorete and watched a lot or oement finishers orking , I know t at a r eputable oontraotor would not hav~ allowed auoh I 0 I ' ' 1- • • 0 • (2) sloppy work to go without doing it over. £ good oity inspector, it he was on the job at the time or pouring, would not have allowed this kind ot work to stay, but would have ordered it torn up and dona over. Ware all the inspection rules followed? We wanted the new atreeta, and we only shuddered a little when told the width or the new walka. Now we tind that the aohool ohildran walk on the graaa and in the atreat, but not too otten on the walka. How•s that tor irony?
