SERIES OF 1999
A RESOLUTION DECLARING ENGLEWOOD CITY COUNCIL'S OPPOSITION TO THE
CONCEALED WEAPOHS ACT, WHICH IS CURRENTLY BEING CONSIDERED BY THE
LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF COLORADO.
WHEREAS, the control of City facilities ia more appropriate on a local basia; and
WHEREAS, the core of the current Concealed Weapons Act ia a pre-emption of local
control, and
WHEREAS , the City of E111lewood h3a ordinance, directly addressin11 vinle:,·.., awl
weapons; and
WHEREAS, the current Bill does not exempt certain local areas whicb !!.·. (,1!y Council
believes need to be addressed; and
WHEREAS, the current Bill does not pre-empt concealed weapons in government
building•, r.o urts, child care facilities , other public facilities and other public gathering
places ; and
WHEREAS, it is City Council's belief that local government is more able to addreu the
specific needs of the City of E111lewood without a bror.d pre-emption by the State aa to
facilities located within the City;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
ENGLEWOOD , COLORADO, THAT:
